Ministry of Health Advises People to Take Care of Their Health and Beware of Covid-19 During Cold Weather

Phnom Penh: The Ministry of Health has advised citizens to take care of their health and be careful of COVID-19 and other diseases that are likely to occur during the cold weather.

The Minister of Health, Mam Bunheng, pointed out that diseases that are more likely to occur in cold weather, are viral respiratory, and allergies. These illnesses can cause flu symptoms such as a runny nose, sore throat, cough, and viral gastro tract inflammation.

The Minister of Health has advised people to wear thick clothing, scarves, hats, and gloves to keep their bodies warm and prevent the cold from directly contacting their bodies in order to prevent infections, especially among the elderly, young children, and infants living within the cold weather areas.

Mr Mam Bunheng continued to advise people that if they have flu-like symptoms such as runny noses, sore throat, or cough and suspect that they might have COVID-19, they should seek medical treatment at health facilities. If you have a cold, cover your mouth with a tissue or cloth if you cough or sneeze. If you don't have a tissue or cloth available, use your sleeve to cover your mouth, and avoid covering it with your bare hands.

The Minister of Health warned that COVID-19 is still occurring in Cambodia and throughout the world and that it will continue to spread anytime, anywhere, if people do not follow health measures to prevent it.

The minister of health urged people to continue receiving their vaccines (first, second, third, fourth, and fifth doses) to avoid serious outbreaks in the community, families, and institutions.

As of December 19, 2022, Cambodia had 138,419 people infected with COVID-19, 135,224 recovered, and 3,056 death.
